LCC SADDENED BY FIRE TRUCK VANDALISM IN MATERO

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has expressed concern over the recent vandalism of one of its Fire Truck by some unruly residents of Matero area.

LCC has told RCV News in Lusaka today that the residents destroyed the fire tender on Saturday afternoon, when firefighters responded to a reported house fire in Matero, Shadracks neighborhood.

Council Public Relations Manager, Chola Mwamba said, a group of unruly community members pelted the fire truck with stones, forcing the team to retreat to avoid harm as they were working to extinguish the fire.

“Such hostility towards Council officials during the performance of their duties is entirely unacceptable”, said Ms. Mwamba.

Ms. Mwamba said frontline workers, who provide essential services to the community, deserve respect and dignity.

She appealed to all Lusaka residents to refrain from acts of violence and destruction directed at Council Officials and property.
