Thirty street vendors have been apprehended by the Lusaka City Council (LCC) Police for illegally conducting business in the Central Business District CBD.
Out of the 30 arrested, 9 have already appeared in the fast track court at the Civic Centre and have been charged accordingly.
LCC Assistant Public Relations Manager Nyambe Bulumba
says the arrest follows an operation conducted by the council police this morning to ascertain compliance levels regarding the ban on street vending.
Mr. Bulumba called on all street vendors to move into designated places to conduct their trading without any disturbance.
He said selling merchandise in the street is against the law as enshrined in Statutory Instrument number 12 of 2018.
