LCC PARTNERS WITH POLISH FIRM AND ZRST  FOR STREET LIGHTING

The Lusaka City Council (LCC), in collaboration with LUG Light Factory, a polish company and the Zambia Road Safety Trust (ZRST), has completed the first phase of a new street lighting project aimed at enhancing road safety and promoting energy efficiency in the capital.

The pilot phase involved the installation of on-grid, energy-saving street lights along Independence Avenue, utilizing energy-efficient technology that minimizes power consumption.

LCC Public Relations Manager, Chola Mwamba, said Phase two of the project is set to begin soon and will feature solar-powered street lights with secure battery compartments designed to prevent  theft.

“The both on-grid and off-grid lighting solution system comes equipped with an advanced technology app that enables remote control and monitoring for efficient management and maintenance,” said Ms. Mwamba in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

Ms. Mwamba said this initiative, implemented at no cost to the local authority, is intended to demonstrate the potential of sustainable lighting solutions to improve urban mobility and safety.

She further said that the Authority hopes the collaboration will serve as a model for future partnerships that support smart city development and environmental sustainability.
