LCC OFFICIALS IMPLICATED IN FUEL MISAPPROPRIATION

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has instituted investigations into alleged misappropriation of 50,000 litres of Council fuel stocks, amounting to over K1.5 million, during a period of six months, running from January to June 2023.

This came to light during the Third Ordinary  Council Meeting held on July 10th, 2024 at the Civic Centre, where the Audit and Risk Committee  Chairperson,  Mainda Simataa of Kamwala Ward, presented his executive summary report alleging looting and misappropriation of fuel.

Lusaka Mayor, Chilando Chitangala, therefore says the Council takes the allegations seriously and has since instructed a thorough and impartial investigation to establish facts.

Ms. Chitangala assured that appropriate action will be taken in line with internal disciplinary procedures, if the allegations are substantiated.

“The public is urged to be patient as they will be informed of the outcome as soon as investigations are concluded,” said Ms. Chitangala in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
