LCC HAS PAID OVER K31M TO CASH FOR WORK BENEFICIARIES

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has disbursed K31, 352,400 towards the payment of 52,897 cash for work beneficiaries out of the 56,280 beneficiaries for the months of August and September 2024 in seven constituencies of Lusaka.

LCC Assistant Public Relations Manager, Nyambe Bulumba says the local authority paid K17,134,200 to 28,557 beneficiaries out of the 31,100 community members who worked in August, and 24,340 beneficiaries out of the 25,180 community members who worked in September received a total a of k14,218,200.

Mr. Bulumba said the Council will continue to administer the cash for work programme with the professionalism it deserves,” said Mr. Bulumba in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

Mr. Bulumba further said that the cash for work program is a government intervention aimed at providing temporary employment and immediate financial relief to vulnerable individuals affected by the 2023/2024 drought.
