Lusaka Based Lawyer, Celestine Mukandila, has called for reforms in the Justice system, on the manner in which Court judges are appointed , suspended or removed.
Mr. Mukandila was reacting to the suspension of three Constitutional Court Judges by President Hakainde Hichilema yesterday.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Mukandila said that there is need to rid off the presidential powers on the appointment and removal of judges in the country’s justice system.
“The president’s role on appointing and removing judges already suggest that the executive interferes with the affairs of the judiciary, said Mr. Mukandila.
He has expressed concern at the rate President Hichilema has been removing judges during his tenure, a situation he said was unfortunate.
