Kanyama Member of Parliament, Monty Chinkuli, has commended the Zambia National Service (ZNS) for spearheading the successful renovation of the drainage system along Kalusha Bwalya Road.
The project, which aims to mitigate flooding in the area, has already shown significant positive results compared to previous years.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Mr. Chinkuli highlighted that the improved drainage system has not only reduced the severity of floods but also enhanced the overall living conditions of Kanyama residents, especially during the current rainy season.
“This drainage system has made a noticeable difference in curbing floods that used to disrupt our community. We need to maintain it while we wait for the government to provide additional projects to further improve our drainage infrastructure,” said Mr. Chinkuli.
He further urged community members to play their part by refraining from dumping garbage into the drainage systems, emphasizing that such behavior contributes to blockages and increases the risk of disease outbreaks like cholera.
