Kalingalinga Ward 36 Councilor in Lusaka’s Munali Constituency, Mukubesa Nyoni, has expressed concern with what he has called increasing levels of criminality in the area, with perpetrators taking advantage of the long hours of loadshedding being experienced.
Mr. Nyoni says the area has recorded several cases of vandalism of public resources including ZESCO service cables, due to load shedding.
He said this in an interview with RCV News today.
“Loadshedding is a national problem, and everyone should be responsible in taking care of national infrastructure for the benefit of all citizens”, said Mr. Nyoni.
Meanwhile, the civic leader also commended the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) bursaries, saying several young people have been applying for skills training.
He said CDF has potential to reduce the number of gangs also referred to as junkies in the area as most of them have prioritized education to improve their lives and that of their families.
