K21M ALLOCATED FOR DRAINAGE CONSTRUCTION IN LUSAKA

Government through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has allocated 21 million Kwacha to the Lusaka City Council (LCC) for maintenance and construction of strategic drainage systems in the city.

The scope of the drainage construction project includes the installation of a drainage system from Kulima Tower to Lumumba Road as well as the upgrading of drains along Mboya and Kayombo Roads near the Government Complex and Premium House, respectively.

LCC Assistant Public Relations Manager, Nyambe Bulumba told RCV News in a statement that Tiisetso Contractors Limited, the contractor engaged to work on the drainages has commenced works on the project expected to be completed within six months.

“The construction and maintenance of these critical drainage systems will significantly help in reducing flooding that the city has experienced in the past,” said Mr. Bulumba.

Mr. Bulumba has since urged members of the public to support the project by cooperating with the contractor and officers undertaking the works to avoid disruptions and enable the project to be completed on schedule.
