The Human Rights Commission has called on the Zambia Police to expedite investigations into the alleged abduction of Petauke Central member of parliament Emmanuel Jay Banda.
Commission spokesperson Mweelwa Muleya said this after a team from the commission visited Mr. Banda who is currently admitted at Maina Soko Military Hospital in Lusaka.
Mr. Muleya has also urged health practitioners to allow the family of Mr. Banda visit him freely at the health facility.
“Mr. Banda should not be kept in the health facility longer than necessary and should be given chance to be reunited with his family at his preferred farm,” said Mr. Muleya in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
He has also called upon the State to improve communication with the family members of Mr. Banda and the nation at large, to avoid speculation.
