The Japanese Government has commended Zambia for its peacekeeping and peacebuilding efforts on the African continent.
Japanese Ministry of Defence Commissioner for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Agency, Takeshi Ishikawa, noted that Zambia has been stable and peaceful since independence.
Speaking when Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary, Maambo Haamaundu, paid a courtesy call on him in Chiba City Japan, on the side-lines of the DSEI Japan Expo, Mr. Ishikawa appreciated Zambia’s efforts in promoting peace and security across Africa.
Mr. Ishikawa said the peacebuilding processes which Zambia has contributed to in many African countries have made the country be recognised as a fountain of peace and he has called for more collaboration between the Zambian and Japanese Ministries of Defence.
And in his reciprocal message, Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary, Maambo Haamaundu, acknowledged the importance of the two countries collaborating in areas of defence and security.
Mr. Haamaundu said the collaboration is likely to be enhanced once Japan’s Defence Attache to Zambia presents their letters of credence soon.
He thanked the Japanese government for inviting Zambia to take part in the DSEI Japan Expo which has attracted hundreds of military personnel and exhibitors from across the world.
This is contained in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today, by Ministry of Defence Principal Public Relations Officer, Paul Shalala.
