IT IS CONSTITUTIONAL FOR THE PRESIDENT TO REMOVE JUDGES – MULENGA

The Governance and Development Advocates Zambia says the removal of the three constitutional court Judges by President, Hakainde Hichilema, is decision that is line with powers vested in the president enshrined in the constitution.

Yesterday, President Hakainde Hichilema removed the trio judges namely, Anne Sitali, Mungeni Mulenga and Palan Mulonda that he suspended last month.

Advocate Executive Director, Elias Mulenga, says the president was merely acting to complaints that were tabled before the Judicial compliants commission on the three judges.

‘The President’s mandate is clearly outlined in the Zambian Constitution, and he had no choice but to invoke and exercise the Powers vested in him, which is the relevant section to fulfill his oath of allegiance,” said Mr,. Mulenga in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

He has therefore urged Zambians not to criticise the president but respect the constitution and rule of law.
