The Action Institute for Policy Analysis Centre (AIPAC) has expressed concern over what it termed ‘shocking revelations” surrounding the Mwinilunga Water Project.
Nearly K14 million, about 95% of the project’s total funding has been disbursed despite little progress, raising serious issues of mismanagement and potential corruption.
AIPAC Executive Director, Solomon Ngoma has called on the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Zambia Police to conduct a thorough investigation on who awarded and authorized payments, holding them accountable for their actions.
Mr. Ngoma has commended the Minister of Water Development and Sanitation, Collins Nzovu for exposing the issue during his recent visit to North-Western Province.
“The Minister’s commitment to transparency and accountability is commendable,” said Mr. Ngoma.
Mr. Ngoma has also called on the National Construction Council (NCC) to assess the contractor’s qualifications and performance and take measures to prevent future malpractices.
He said the organization will not stand idly by while public funds are mismanaged and wasted.
He has since demanded transparency, accountability, and justice.
