INTRODUCE PERFORMANCE BASED CONTRACTS FOR CIVIL SERVANTS

A Lusaka-based clergyman has called on government to consider implementing performance-based contracts for all civil servants.

Pastor in Charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Patrick Osagie, says the move would help improve accountability and productivity in the public service.

Speaking in Lusaka today when he featured on Christian Voice’s Chatback program under the topic What Approach Should Christians Have Towards Work?”, Dr. Osagie said that the current system encourages laxity among some civil servants.

“The current system is what is leading to some civil servants reporting late for work and the high rate of absenteeism, because they are assured of their jobs regardless of performance,” said Dr. Osagie.

Dr. Osagie emphasized the need to enhance the quality of work across the civil service in order to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
