Global Empathy Project Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Sarah Clayton, has attributed the high cases of Human trafficking in Zambia to the worsened poverty levels.
Ms. Clayton said this in Lusaka today, when she featured on Christian Voices’ Chatback program on the topic, “Anti- Human trafficking”.
She said that according to research, most Zambians continue to live beyond the poverty line and are lured by traffickers for greener pastures outside the country.
“Government should also strengthen border surveillance and other entry points as a way to combat human trafficking”, said Ms. Clayton.
She said that immigration officers at border controls must be concerned with who is leaving and entering the county without correct documentation.
