The Lusaka Regional Immigration Office has apprehended 42 individuals for various immigration-related offences following a successful operation conducted in Kabwata, Chilenje, Mutendere, Chamba Valley, Bauleni, and Chalala.
Department of Immigration Chief Public Relations Officer Namati Nshinka, says the operation resulted in the arrest of 39 males and 3 females, including 20 Burundians, 9 Congolese, 4 Rwandese, 3 Tanzanians, and 1 Mozambican national.
Mr. Nshinka said the offences committed include unlawful stay and trading without valid immigration permits.
“A female Zambian was also apprehended for obstructing immigration officers in the execution of their duties. All suspects are currently detained at Kamulanga Police Station pending further investigations and possible prosecution,” said Mr. Nshinka in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
Meanwhile, in North-Western Province, the Solwezi Regional Immigration Office, in collaboration with the Kasempa Immigration Office, on 17th June 2025, apprehended 19 individuals for engaging in illegal gold mining activities in Mufumbwe District.
The group includes 17 Tanzanians and 2 Zimbabweans, all of whom are currently detained in Solwezi pending immigration and legal proceedings.
Mr. Nshinka noted that the combined Lusaka and Solwezi operations brought the total number of apprehensions on 17th June 2025 to 73.
“These operations are part of our continued nationwide enforcement efforts to restore order and uphold immigration laws,” said Mr. Nshinka.
