ILO SAYS CHILD LABOUR, A LINGERING PROBLEM

The International Labour Organisation ILO says child labour remains a persistent problem in Zambia.

Today, Zambia joins the rest of the world in commemorating the World Day Against Child Labour under the theme, “Let’s act on our commitments: End Child Labour!”.

Speaking on behalf of the ILO Country Director Wellingtone Chibebe, ILO representative John Louis Lambue` said child labour is a phenomenon that still needs to be addressed.

Mr. Chibebe said on a global scale, one hundred and sixty million children are engaged as child labourers.

“Now is the time to make the elimination of child labour a reality”, said Mr Chibebe.
