New Heritage Party (NHP) President, Chishala Kateka, has dismissed reports suggesting she has been expelled from the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA).
The reports stem from a press briefing held yesterday, during which a faction of the alliance, led by Chairperson Robert Chansa, announced that Ms. Kateka and several others had been removed from UKA and no longer represented the coalition in any capacity.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Ms. Kateka questioned the legitimacy of the statements and directed blame for the ongoing instability within UKA at National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader Saboi Imboela, whom she accused of fostering division within the alliance.
“It is pointless to engage in conflict with Saboi Imboela because she thrives in divisive political environments and, in any case, is no longer part of UKA following her expulsion,” said Ms. Kateka.
She dismissed remarks suggesting she was a “boardroom politician” with no active involvement in the alliance, calling the claims unfounded and illogical.
Ms. Kateka further urged opposition leaders to redirect their energy towards addressing pressing national concerns, such as the high cost of living and the need for constitutional reform, rather than engaging in baseless internal attacks.
