HOUSE OF CHIEFS CONGRATULATES HH

The House of Chiefs has congratulated President, Hakainde Hichilema, on his Honorary Doctorate awarded by a Scottish University.

The Head of State was awarded an Honorary Doctorate at Heriot Watt University’s Edinburgh Business School in Scotland last week, in recognition for services to the economic advancement of Zambia and its citizens, enabling access to education and revitalization of international trade.

House of Chiefs Chairperson, Chief Nkambo, stated that the recognition of the President should inspire young people to work hard in school, taking advantage of the free education policy in Zambia.

“It is important for young people to emulate the attributes of hard work and self-sacrifice being exhibited by the President for the sake of developing the Nation”, Chief Nkambo said in a statement.

He reminded the young people currently enjoying free education to maximise the policy prudently in an effort to become responsible Citizens and contribute to National development.

The Chief also said that the decisions to recruit over 30,000 teachers is bearing fruits, particularly in rural parts of the Country.

Chief Nkambo said that new teachers deployed to serve in schools in rural areas had significantly helped in reducing the high teacher-to-pupil ratio compared to previous years.

He said the House of Chiefs is committed to working with government in implementing various developmental programs.
