President Hakainde Hichilema says Zambia has remained a least-developed country due to a persistent dependency syndrome.
Mr. Hichilema emphasized the need for the country to build resilience and foster self-reliance to accelerate national development.
Speaking at the Third Least Developed Countries Future Forum in Lusaka today, President Hichilema also stressed the importance of eliminating wastage across all sectors to support economic growth.
“Apart from promoting self-reliance, there is need to address the rampant wastage in government sectors to ensure resources are preserved for the benefit of all Zambians,” said Mr. Hichilema.
He warned that failure to curb wastage would hinder economic growth and development.
