GRID AFRICA ADDRESSES POWER CRISIS IN ZAMBIA

Grid Africa, a pioneer in distributed renewable energy, has announced its expansion into Zambia to tackle the power crisis in the country.

The company already has a solid foundation in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Kenya and has secured distribution partnerships with global technology providers such as Tesla, Huawei, Jinko, and Sunsnyk for its inverters, solar panels, and lithium batteries.

GridAfrica Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Norman Moyo, says his company has been drawn to Zambia by government’s power sector reforms, which he said favour private sector investment, the adoption of new technologies, and increased grid access.

“The energy company aims to provide hybrid solutions incorporating solar, battery storage, grid, and generator to address the power crisis,” said Mr. Moyo in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

He  indicated that the long hours of load shedding and rising electricity costs in Zambia are detrimental to businesses and livelihoods.

Mr. Moyo said his company offers top-tier solar and lithium battery solutions to data centres, commercial and industrial clients, and telecommunications towers.

“The company’s venture into Zambia is set to create hundreds of construction jobs, contributing to the local economy,” said Mr. Moyo.

“GridAfrica has developed and deployed over 55 MW across Africa, enhancing the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) expertise in Zambia’s energy sector,” said Mr. Moyo.
