Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Jack Mwiimbu, has appealed to Zambians to maintain unity and peace as the nation mourns the passing of former Republican President Edgar Lungu.
Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Mwiimbu emphasized the importance of coming together beyond political lines during this period of national mourning to honor a man who once held the highest office in the nation.
“As we await the arrival of Mr. Lungu’s remains from South Africa, let us offer support and respect to the bereaved family,” said Mr. Mwiimbu.
Mr. Mwiimbu stressed that the late President’s passing calls for national unity and compassion and has further appealed to the public to avoid inflammatory statements but to uphold the Christian values that the country cherishes.
“Desist from publishing statements and videos intended to divide the nation,” Mr. Mwiimbu further urged the public.
