GOV’T URGED TO INCLUDE PE AS COMPULSORY SUBJECT 

The Physical Education and Sport Teachers Association of Zambia has called on government to make Physical Education ( PE) a compulsory subject in all schools.

Association Central Province Dean of  Headteachers , Keith Cheembo, says (PE) has medicinal benefits, noting its role in improving Physical health, reducing stress, and enhancing cognitive abilities.

Mr. Cheembo said this during  the Association’s conference  which brought together educators, school administrators, and key stakeholders to discuss the future of Physical Education  and sports in Zambian schools.

He  explained that regular physical activity contributes to the prevention of lifestyle diseases such as obesity, diabetes and hypertension.

“PE activities boosts mental well-being, and enhances academic  performance,” said Mr. Cheembo in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

Meanwhile, Senior Education Standards Officer in charge of  Expressive Arts in the province,  Obvious Malata, commended the association for the initiatives it’s undertaking  to advance (PE) and Sports.

Mr. Malata also recognized the association’s efforts in  promoting a holistic approach to learners  development and assured them continued support for their programs.
