The Medical Quality Healthcare in Zambia (MQHZ) has urged government to invest in long-term solutions to mitigate the impact of future floods.
Association Director General, Quince Mwabu, emphasized the need for flood-resistant healthcare infrastructure, early warning systems, and climate-resilient water and sanitation facilities.
“The floods have caused significant trauma and stress, which can have lasting effects on individuals and communities if left unaddressed,” said Dr. Mwabu in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
Dr. Mwabu further stressed the importance of targeted support, including emergency food aid, community-based healthcare services, vaccinations, and disease surveillance, to protect vulnerable communities from the devastating effects of the floods.
