GOVT URGED TO BE PRACTICAL ON TEACHERS’ WELFARE

Federation of Free Trade Union of Zambia General Secretary, Nelson Mwale, has challenged government to be practical in addressing the plight of teachers in Zambia.

Mr. Mwale says it is unfortunate that government only promises to uplift the life of teachers through political pronouncements without actions.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News to celebrate teachers day in Lusaka today, Mr. Mwale said that teachers are still under paid, subjected to average housing and most of them are not in employment, as Zambia celebrates 60 years of independence this year.

“There is need for government to walk the talk and ensure a teacher is well looked after”, said Mr. Mwale.

He has however paid glowing tribute to teachers across the country for their  good work despite working under difficult working conditions.
