GOV’T TO USE 2023 DATA FOR TEACHER RECRUITMENT

Minister of Education, Douglas Syakalima, says the ministry will not advertise for the 2024 teacher recruitment, but use information in the database of applicants who applied in the previous recruitment.

Mr. Syakalima says this year’s recruitment shall be transparent saying that it will be subjected to an objective validation process to ensure that only eligible applicants are recruited.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Syakalima has therefore reminded all unemployed teachers who had applied in the previous recruitments that government does not entertain corruption of any form in the recruitment process.

“It is therefore expected that all those involved in the recruitment process should adhere and uphold the tenets for the public service, adding that any officer who shall be found wanting will face dire consequences,” said Mr. Syakalima.

And Mr. Syakalima said the recruitments are in line with the UPND’s manifesto aimed at reducing the pupil teacher ratio following the introduction of free education as well as improve the learning outcomes in schools.
