GOV’T TO ADDRESS LONG QUEUES FOR NRC ISSUANCE

The Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security has announced plans to allocate additional resources to the National Registration, Passport, and Citizenship (NRPC) Department to address the persistent issue of long queues during the issuance of National Registration Cards (NRCs).

Ministry Principal Public Relations Officer, Mwala Kalaluka, attributed the surge in demand for NRCs in recent years to the introduction of government empowerment programs such as the Community Development Fund (CDF) and cash-for-work projects.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Mr. Kalaluka reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting the department in delivering efficient services by providing adequate resources and enhancing public awareness efforts.

“The government has implemented measures to ease the situation, including recruiting more staff for the department and undertaking the construction of new offices across the country,” said Mr. Kalaluka.
