GOV’T SIGNS MOU WITH CHANDLER INSTITUE OF JUSTICE

The Ministry of Labor and Social Security has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chandler institute of Justice.

The MoU seeks to help the ministry with law reforms, capacity building initiatives and exchange of legal knowledge and expertise to enhance law reforms.

Acting Permanent secretary, Zachariah Luhanga, says the MoU will enhance public governance and legal frameworks through comprehensive reforms, build institutional capacity to achieve sustainable development objectives and promote knowledge sharing of local context and international best standards.

“Cabinet approved in principle the amendment of the industrial and labor relations act and the employment code act, and the MoU gives impetus to the review process,” said Mr. Luhanga.

He said that Parties have already devised an action plan that shall facilitate the revision of the two (2) acts and the process is expected to be completed in the next six 6 months.
