GOVT REFUTES TYPHOID OUTBREAK IN LUSAKA

Government has dispelled reports of an alleged alert on the outbreak of Typhoid in Lusaka.

This follows a thorough investigation and review of surveillance and laboratory trends, an exercise that has since dispelled a purported typhoid epidemic in the District.

Ministry of Health Spokesperson Kalangwa Kalangwa says  its disease intelligence and surveillance system remains alert to any public health threat.

“The systems are designed to promptly detect any infectious diseases including Typhoid and ensuring quick response measures are implemented,” said Dr. Kalangwa in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

He said that the multisectoral public health teams are constantly implementing Public Health measures, including water quality monitoring, sanitation efforts, and vaccination programs.

Dr. Kalangwa said that these efforts are crucial in preventing the spread of typhoid and other waterborne diseases.
