GOVT REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO NEW EDUCATION CURRICULUM

Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the principles outlined in the Zambia education curriculum framework 2023.

Minister of Education, Douglas Syakalima says the reformed framework and work on developing new school syllabuses recently approved by Cabinet is already underway and will proceed with the development of teacher education curriculum.

He said this when he officially opened the 4TH Zambia Teacher Development Symposium (ZDTS) under the theme:  “Advancing Teacher Development Education: Bridging Policies, Technology and Inclusion.

“Government is further developing the comprehensive teacher policy and the training strategy with support from UNESCO and UNICEF respectively, to create a more effective, equitable and sustainable education system by addressing critical aspects of the teaching profession,” said Mr. Syakalima.

Mr. Syakalima also said there is a lot still needs to be done to bridge the digital divide and ensure equitable access to technology for all  learners and educators.

Meanwhile, Mr. Syakalima said he is confident that the discussions and outcomes of the symposium will contribute to the country’s collective efforts in advancing teacher development which will build a resilient education system that prepares  learners for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.
