Government has officially launched the construction of the 16.3-kilometer Kaongo Road in Kaputa District of Northern Province.
The project will be carried out at a cost of 8.2 million kwacha, with the Zambia National Service (ZNS) as the contractor.
Speaking when he flagged off the construction of the road, Northern Province Permanent Secretary, Bernard Mpundu expressed his expectation that the project will be completed within the designated four-month period.
“This road will not only benefit residents living in Kaputa, but the entire region by facilitating the delivery of goods and services to marketplaces, and other parts of the province”, explained. Mr. Mpundu in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka by Northern Province Principle Public Relations Officer Sandra Mulenga.
The Permanent Secretary noted that two years ago, transporting agricultural produce from the area to other parts of the province was a significant challenge, hence once completed, the challenges will be a thing of the past.
Meanwhile, Zambia National Service Regional Commander Brigadier General Zipher Nyirenda assured that the project would be completed within the set timeline.
