Opposition Citizens First President, Harry Kalaba, says the UPND government is not in touch with the challenges Zambians are facing.
Mr. Kalaba was reacting to Minister of Finance and National planning, Situmbeko Musokotwane’s statement yesterday, alleging that Zambia’s energy crisis is as a result of the refusal by the general public to have cost reflective electricity tariffs.
But speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Kalaba said that it is irresponsible for government to blame ordinary Zambians for the energy crisis.
“It is also unfortunate that government is encouraging Zambians to invest in solar energy when the people are facing harsh economic conditions,” said Mr. Kalaba.
He has therefore urged government to wake up and be in touch with the realities Zambians are facing.
