Government has officially handed over a modern macro‑burn incinerator to enhance biomedical waste management at Mbala General Hospital.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Northern Province Minister, Leonard Mbao said that the installation of the macro-burn incinerator will address hazardous waste disposal challenges head‑on, ensuring that infectious and chemical waste is handled safely, efficiently, and in compliance with established standards.
Mr. Mbao commended the role of the private sector in national development and improving the health and well‑being of communities.
“This critical infrastructure project was realized through a public‑private partnership involving, Ministry of Health, First National Bank (FNB) Zambia and Right to Care Zambia”, said Mr. Mbao in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
He pointed out that the new incinerator supports key national objectives including environmental protection, health security, and economic growth.
And Right to Care Zambia Country Director, Ben Chirwa, highlighted how the facility will strengthen efforts in safe waste disposal and infection control across regional health centres.
Meanwhile, First National Bank (FNB) Zambia Head of Cooperate Investment Banking Luyanga Mufungulwa, said that the bank takes pride in supplementing government’s efforts to ensure that citizens access quality health care services in a well-equipped conducive environment.
