Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Garry Nkombo, has assured that government is employing more experts in rural district councils and in other councils in the country, to enhance the execution of projects under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Mr. Nkombo says over 200 Technical officers have already been employed and that currently the Local Government Service Commission is employing more technical staff among them, quantity surveyors, civil engineers and architects among others.
He was speaking in the National Assembly yesterday, during questions for oral answer, responding to Kalabo Central MP Chinga Miyutu, on when the Government will employ experts in rural district councils.
And Mr. Nkombo said government has physically decentralised the money to local areas to ensure public workers in rural areas are provided with special amenities to avoid rural-urban staff transfers.
He was responding to Kamfisa Member of Parliament, Christopher Kang’ombe, who wanted to know measures government is putting to stop the employed technical staff from being poached by the private sector.
