GOV’T CONCERNED WITH DELAYS IN PROJECT COMPLETION

Government has called on local contractors to be vigilant and ensure timely completion of projects assigned to them.

Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Development Permanent Secretary, Subeta Mutelo, expressed concern over the delay in project completions, stating that it is disheartening when government funds are allocated to local contractors, yet they fail to meet deadlines.

The Permanent Secretary made these remarks during her visit to the Industrial Yard and Cassava Bulking Centres in Kasama District recently.

She expressed dissatisfaction with the slow progress, especially that funds have already been allocated to the contractors.

“Government hopes that the contractors will complete the work as soon as possible, so that the cassava bulking Centre can be operational by the end of March,” Ms. Mutelo said in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today, by Northern Province Principal Public Relations Officer, Sandra Mulenga.

The Permanent Secretary emphasized that many farmers in the province have already planted cassava and are eager to bring their produce for processing at the Industrial Yard.

She further noted that the Ministry has been working to ensure that local contractors are given priority for such projects.
