GOVT COMMITTED TO REFORMING INMATES WITH LIFE SKILLS

Government says it remains committed to ensuring that incarcerated members of the public are reformed and equipped with various survival skills, as they leave the correctional facilities.

Muchinga Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Mathews Chilekwa, says President Hakainde Hichilema is devoted to ensuring that correctional centers reform the inmates and introduce them to different skills apart from providing them with good hygiene services.

Rev. Chilekwa says government has been working tirelessly to ensure that inmates are provided with mattresses, beds, and blankets among others.

He said this when the Muchinga Provincial cooperatives union donated an assortment of hygiene materials to inmates at Mpika Correctional facility, as part of International day of cooperatives celebration which was held under the “theme cooperatives building a better future for all.
“There should also be maximum discipline among inmates as they save their jail sentence for them to positively contribute to the development of the Nation,” said Rev. Chilekwa in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today by Mpika council Public Relations officer Mushota Mpundu.
