Minister Information and Media Cornelius Mweetwa says government reaffirms its commitment to creating a free environment for the media to carry out their work.
Mr. Mweetwa said this in his message ahead of the World Press Freedom Day which falls tomorrow, 3rd May, 2024, under the theme “ A Press for the Planet; Journalism in the Face of the environmental crisis.”
Speaking during a press briefing in Southern Province today, Mr. Mweetwa, who is also Chief Government Spokesperson, encouraged Journalists to accord priority to environmental issues in their coverage, to respond to climate change.
Mr. Mweetwa has also said Journalists should not only serve as watchdogs but also as key participants in disseminating climate related issues.
