GOV’T CALLS FOR MORE INTRA-AFRICA TRADE

Minister of Defence, Ambrose Lufuma, has called for more intra-Africa trade if the continent is to develop.

Mr. Lufuma says African countries must trade more amongst themselves before they consider trading with the outside world, as commerce has the capacity to develop the continent.

Speaking when Chief of the Namibian Defence Force Air Marshall, Martin Kambulu Pinehas, paid a courtesy call on him in Lusaka today, Mr. Lufuma said Zambia and Namibia must trade more with each other in order for the two countries to enjoy the benefits of international commerce.

He said Zambia and Namibia have strong bilateral ties and there is a huge volume of trade between the two neighbouring countries.

“African nations can only develop if bodies such as the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) are utilized to enhance trade,” said Mr. Lufuma in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today, by Ministry of Defence Principal Public Relations Officer Paul Shalala.
