GOVT BANS THE SELL OF CHIYABI

Government has banned the sell of a home made illicit alcohol commonly known as “Chiyabi” in Southern Province.

Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Garry Nkombo said this in the National Assembly today, during the Question For Oral Answer session.

Mr. Nkombo said that the decision follows the reported deaths of more than 20 people after consuming the named alcohol in the past one month.

“Government has moved in and suspended the brewing of the illicit alcohol,” said Mr. Nkombo.

He said that government will also increase sensitization programs in rural areas where such similar cases are rampant.
