GOV’T APPROVES OVER 160 CDF BURSARIES IN ITEZHI TEZHI

Government has approved Constituency Development Fund (CDF) bursaries for 169 students in Itezhi Tezhi amid calls for quality training from area Member of Parliament Twaambo Mutinta.

Mr. Mutinta has announced the approval of the CDF skills bursaries for 169 students out of 342 applicants.

In a statement to RCV News today, Mr. Mutinta stated that the CDF committee made a strategic decision to carefully select only 169 students and reduced the number of skills bursaries in order to vary the balances towards the construction of a local skills center following reports of numerous challenges that youths face in accessing education outside the district.

Mr. Mutinta said some of these challenges make some students withdraw and others being exposed to bad social vices while out of their homes .

“Investing in local infrastructure will yield long-term benefits for the community and its economy,” said Mr.

He has bemoaned that in the entire Southern Province, Itezhi Tezhi lags behind because of not having key essential facilities such as a skills center.

Mr. Mutinta has since warned skills training institutions where the 169 students are going to maintain high standards of training and service, or risk being blacklisted from future CDF opportunities of allocating students to their institutions.
