GOV’T ADVOCATES FOR COLLABORATION WITH CHURCH

Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary, Thabo Kawana, has urged World Day of Prayer Africa delegates, to focus on the need to strengthen partnerships with governments across the whole of society, including with the church.

Mr. Kawana said this in Lusaka today when he opened the  World Day of Prayer Africa 2nd Triennial Conference, which has been hosted in Zambia for the first time.

He said faith communities, like the World Day of Prayer Africa chapter, play a vital role in supporting states and peoples to realise this shared vision.

Mr. Kawana said the Zambian government is prepared to walk alongside the church on the journey of justice, peace, reconciliation and unity.

He said the shared platform must be one of active participation in resolving problems.

“May this conference renew our hope and strengthen our resolve to work together for a world where peace prevails,” said Mr. Kawana.

Mr. Kawana said government welcomes the amplifying of the voices, in good faith, of those most impacted by the climate change crisis and the addendum economic challenges.
