Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development are spearheading a Presidential Green Building Initiative in which they are actively pursuing rooftop solar solutions for all public institutions across the country, to attain a sustainable hybrid energy model.
This is in line with ZESCO’s commitment to ensuring that alternative power supply solutions are continuously explored to provide relief to customers, the public and the nation at large to navigate power deficit and seek a more resilient and sustainable energy future.
ZESCO Manager – Communication Strategy, Muntanga Sibalwa, has since assured customers and stakeholders in Markets and Public place where Diesel Powered Generators were installed that the diesel-powered energy solution will continue to play a crucial role even after the power crisis subsides.
“The gensets will be utilized during times when the electrical system is under strain particularly during peak demand periods and maintenance of the system,” said Ms. Sibalwa in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
She said the presence of these diesel generators as a backup power source will remain vital for ensuring the resilience and stability of the power supply infrastructure.
Ms. Sibalwa said they will also help to safeguard against future fluctuations in energy generation capacity, reinforcing ZESCO’s commitment to maintaining a reliable energy supply for critical loads.
