FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTER IN APIA FOR COMMONWEALTH MEETING

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mulambo Haimbe, has arrived in Apia, Samoa, ahead of the 27th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) starting 21st – 26th October 2024.

The biennial summit provides an opportunity for Commonwealth nations to discuss and set policies on shared global priorities

First Secretary Press and Public Relations-Zambia High Commission to Australia and New Zealand, Charles Mucholo,  said in a statement to RCV News in Lusaka today that Mr. Haimbe was welcomed by Samoa’s Minister of Finance, Lautimuia Uelese Vaai and Minister of Justice Matamua Vasati Sili Pulufana.

Mr. Mucholo said others that welcomed Mr. Haimbe are Zambia’s High Commissioner to Australia and New Zealand, Dr. Elias Munshya, and Zambia’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ms. Macenje Mazoka.

He said Mr. Haimbe is President Hakainde Hichilema at the summit.
Mr. Mucholo said the 2024 CHOGM is convened under the theme, “One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Commonwealth.

He said Mr. Haimbe is accompanied by Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Etambuyu Gundersen, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts, Mr. Chileshe Kangwa, and Permanent Secretary of the Gender Division in the Office of the President, Ms. Mainga Kabika, along with other senior government officials.
