President Hakainde Hichilema has called on Zambians to focus on mourning the Sixth Republican President Edgar Lungu as opposed igniting political battles.
Speaking after signing the book of condolence at Belvedere Lodge in Lusaka this afternoon, President Hichilema said this is not time and opportunity to open wounds and to start political battles, but a time to mourn the former Head of State in dignity and mutual respect.
“Other things ,will pick them after the funeral, for now, the nation must focus on mourning,” said Mr. Hichilema.
He urged political competitors to stop driving wedges against government for it is not acceptable in a period of mourning.
Mr. Hichilema also highlighted that the funeral process has longer as continues government to engage the family to reach an amicable way of sending the late former President to his resting place in a respective manner.
He has further urged mutual respect stating that Zambians owe themselves decency as a Christian nation.
