EXPERT CALLS FOR STRONGER POLICIES ON E-WASTE DISPOSAL

Technology Expert, Ali Kingston Mwila has emphasized on the need for effective policies to guide individuals and companies on responsible e-waste disposal, stating that while existing policies are in place, there efficiency is questionable and thorough review is necessary.

This week, Technology and Science Minister, Felix Mutati says there is need for collective action to address the challenges of electronic waste management.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Mwila said that one of the major challenges in addressing the e-waste crisis is the lack of awareness and education among individuals and companies.

“To address this, there is need for a concerted effort to raise awareness and educate the public on the importance of proper e-waste disposal,” said Mr. Mwila.

He also added that by taking action to address the e-waste crisis, Zambia can mitigate the environmental and health risks associated with improper e-waste disposal and create a more sustainable future for its citizens.
