ERB FINES 6 COMPANIES FOR BREACHING LICENSE

The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has fined 6 companies for breaching license conditions and failing to pay outstanding statutory fees.

These actions stem from thorough compliance audits and regulatory oversight designed to ensure adherence to the operational standards set out in the Energy Regulation Act.

ERB Acting Public Relations Manager, Musonda Chibulu, says  Oryx Energies Limited was fined K240,000 for operating without the necessary construction permits, a violation of Section 22 of the Energy Regulation Act.

“In addition, United Metro Energy was fined K75,000 for operating without a license, in violation of Section 10 (1) of the Energy Regulation Act,” said Mr. Chibulu in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

He said that operating without a license is a serious regulatory breach, jeopardizing both industry standards and public safety.

Mr. Chibulu also said that Rubis Energy, located in Kalingalinga was fined K60,000 for alleged fuel contamination, breaching Clause 7.7 of the Quality Control and Monitoring Guidelines.

He further said that Harvest Group of Companies, Twin Palm, was reprimanded for failing to implement a satisfactory and well-documented complaints handling procedure.

Mr. Chibulu said that the company was instructed to provide response on why further enforcement action should not be taken against them.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chibulu said that Apex Energies Limited and Ravasia Motors were found to have outstanding statutory fees of K9,851.04 and K111,490.94, respectively, saying that following enforcement measures for debt recovery, both companies settled their dues in full.
