Chairperson of the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and Bwana Mkubwa Member of Parliament, Warren Mwambazi, has called on the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) to expediate the distribution of all the 156 ambulances procured through the constituency Development Fund CDF.
Currently, only 76 ambulances have been distributed out of the 156 expected in the country.
Speaking when Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and Parliamentary Committee on Health and Social Services toured ZAMMSA in Lusaka today, Mr. Mwambazi stressed the importance of the timely distribution of the ambulances to areas where they are most needed once they are received.
“All the ambulances must be delivered by August 2025 according to the contract signed,” said Mr. Mwambazi.
Meanwhile, The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) has revealed that the central warehouse currently holds 70% stock availability of essential medicines.
ZAMMSA Acting Director for Warehousing and Distribution, Roosevelt Kyanamina confirmed that while not at full capacity, the current stock levels are adequate to meet national needs provided to public health facilities.
