The Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) has commended government for reducing taxes on agricultural machinery and irrigation equipment, a move aimed at lowering production costs and boosting efficiency in the agricultural sector.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka recently, EIZ President Wesley Kaluba emphasized the importance of agricultural mechanization in enhancing food production across the country.
He further urged engineering professionals to take the lead in developing innovative, cost-effective machinery tailored to the specific needs of farmers.
“By integrating modern engineering and design principles, EIZ is encouraging its members to develop efficient and affordable machinery, enabling farmers to achieve large-scale crop production both locally and in neighboring countries,” Mr. Kaluba stated.
