ECONOMIST URGES GOVERNMENT TO DEPOLITICISE ZESCO

Economic Analyst, Yusuf Dodia, has called for the need to depoliticize ZESCO, in a bid to improve the company’s status and performance.

Mr. Dodia says ZESCO would operate more efficiently and effectively, if it were allowed to function independently, free from political interference.

He said this in Lusaka yesterday when he featured on Christian Voices’ Chatback program on the topic “2025 Economic outlook”.

“By granting ZESCO more autonomy, the company would be better equipped to tackle challenges related to power generation, distribution, and service delivery”, said Mr Dodia.

He warned that political interference in state-owned enterprises, such as ZESCO, often leads to inefficiencies, poor management, and a lack of accountability.
