Financial Analyst, Yusuf Dodia, has questioned the relevance of the positive sentiments surrounding Zambia’s economy, saying it does not translate into meaningful benefits for ordinary households.
Speaking on Christian Voice’s Chatback program in Lusaka today during a discussion on the “State of the Economy”, Mr. Dodia noted that the perceived economic improvements are largely driven by the mining sector, which benefits only a small section of Zambians.
“These sentiments, like the kwacha being ranked among the best-performing currencies, are mostly felt by multinational corporations who externalize profits, not by the average citizen,” said Mr. Dodia.
He emphasized the need for Zambians to take ownership of the economy to ensure that growth is inclusive and felt at the grassroots level.
